Field Fluorometer

Field FluorometerThe Field Fluoro-Tec is a versatile and cost-effective instrument designed for the implementation of fluorescence-based techniques in field and factory environments where rugged construction, weather resistance, and battery operation are requirements. Fluoresence techniques offer high sensitivity, wide dynamic range, and selectivity.

Careful system design, feedback stabilized power supplies, and thermal control provide the excellent long term stability that is required for field applications under variable weather conditions and temperature. Designed for large volume flow cells and cuvettes, the Field Fluoro-Tec offers all of the features of a laboratory model with no compromises for field application. Flow cells are available for 6 x 50 mm and 10 x 75 mm tubes. Many other specialty sample holders are available for solids, capillary tubes, and paper strips.

The Field Fluoro-Tec utilizes a close-coupled, 90 degree excitation and emission measurement configuration. This provides an excellent balance of dynamic range, light throughput, and low stray light. The photomultiplier detector, feedback stabilized amplifiers and power supplies combined with careful attention to thermal considerations provide sensitivity for the most demanding trace analyses.

Compact (16 inches W, 10 inches D, 9.5 inches H) and light weight (15 pounds), the Field Fluoro-Tec will fit into any boat, car, or truck. The environmentally sealed anodized aluminum case and console panel provides protection against light rain or spray and against shock and vibration.

Applications include, Fluorescent Dye Studies (including dye delution flow methods, time-of-travel, infiltration, mixing rate, reservoir flushing and residence time); Chlorophyll Concentration Studies (in phytoplankton via continuous flow measurements, or in algae extracts via discrete sampling); and Turbidity /Clarity / Particulate Matter Studies (on-line or via grab samples).
